The Power and Poise of Palla
A palla with power turns heads,
A palla with poise turns hearts,
And a woman with both, turns tradition into triumph!!
Hello Handloom Connoisseurs !!
Opening the runway for Style Your Handloom Saree 2025, The Power and Poise of Palla set the tone for an afternoon where heritage met high style and every fold whispered a tale. Organized by the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC) and Redefining the Roots Welfare Association (an initiative by Tale of a Trend), with valuable support from Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, the presentation became a true tribute to India’s handloom legacy.
The Statement Saree and Styling
At its heart was the Patola saree, a jewel from Gujarat’s weaving tradition, renowned for its intricate double-ikat patterns and kaleidoscopic hues. Crafted by Ajay Patola and draped and styled by Team Tale of a Trend, each thread carried the discipline of heritage and the joy of artistry.
For this presentation, the saree embraced a Bengali-inspired drape with a bold, assertive flair! A style that commanded attention while celebrating cultural fusion!! The cross-cultural blend brought together the bold geometry of Patola with the striking character of Bengal’s palla, creating an ensemble that felt both regal and rooted.
The visual impact was heightened with hair left open with centre parting and a bold bindi. Thus, lending the look a natural-to-sculpted transition that mirrored the balance of tradition and trend. The expert draping hands of Mahi and Trisha shaped the fabric into movement, while the 6C Diamond jewelry adorned the look with just the right sparkle, a glint that caught the light as confidently as the theme’s name promised.
Well, it’s time to settle in my lovely fashion enthusiasts! So, grab your cup of chai, coffee or even a sip of nostalgia and let the story of Patola unfold. Scroll down with us as we unveil the very first saree, the first muse, and the beginning of this vibrant journey through the Patola Tales with Tale of a Trend team.
Purple Prism
Rich purple silk weaves together the artistry of double ikat into a kaleidoscope of symmetrical motifs. The saree’s balanced patterns shift beautifully with movement, catching light across its borders and elaborate palla. This Patola is a statement of regal poise, enhanced by the distinct Bengali-style pleating that adds structured grace to its bold character. Our majestic muse carries this heirloom with grace, breathing life into tradition while radiating her own timeless charm.

Patola in performance: Drapes and Diguise
The runway turned theatrical as the Fuchsia muse, Bhumi, draped in Patola yet cloaked in a blue linen coat and Rajasthani turban, playfully disguised herself as a suitor. In contrast, the Emerald queen Kuhoo, embraced the role of the coy beloved. Together, they brought alive Mere Saamne Wali Khidki Mein, where fashion flirted with drama in a charming act of disguise and delight.
