In this immersive post, join us as we delve into the design journey of gifted designer Megha Agarwal, the mastermind behind her brand-Megha Ethnics (बंजारन), exploring the cultural intricacies that shape her fashion line into a remarkable fusion of heritage and modernity.

Megha didn’t follow the typical fascination with film stars or beauty icons but, she felt a deep kinship with the fields, water wells, and the resilient women of her grandmother’s Rajasthan village. Each stitch at Banjaran encapsulates the elegance and emotions of Bagru block printing. And yes, we are celebrating this “CHAAP” on the tunes of Chaap Tilak sab chheen li re mose nainaan milayike!

This Jaipuri style of block printing’s hallmark lies in  using natural dyes from plants and minerals, creating a range of rich, earthy colors. From Harada to Myrobalan dyeing, our journey pauses at indigo dyeing, which yields profound blues, symbolizing purity and spirituality, embodying cultural identity and heritage.

Inspirational Indigo

The use of indigo dyeing in this exquisite dhoti pant and flared top ensemble has perfectly invigorated the shade as well as infused a touch of contemporary fashion. The motifs varies from floral to geometrical, thus giving a wide palate to the designer to showcase her imagination. Pairing paisley and horizontal lines in this dress truly endorses the same.

The same paisley motif in indigo hue looks impeccably graceful in this simple yet super stylish saree. The contemporary top is  blending traditional art with modern designs, preserving authenticity while suiting current tastes. The ochre yellow border and applique is further multiplying the charm manifolds.

Beauty in Black
This bordered black lehnga paired with multi hued crop top epitomize unity in diversity. Thus, speaking a universal language that resonates with a global audience.  The pretty patch pocket is the USP of the collection adding a design and functional element at the same time. And, these swinging tassels are such a feast to the eyes,

And when blue and black team up to steal all the spotlight!

Brilliant in Beiges

Beige and Maroon is one of the classic combinations in the fashion palette since ages. Every Indian wardrobe exhibits this in both traditional as well as contemporary outlook. But, creating this combination with vegetable dyes is completely an enthralling saga and is truly evident in the outfits below.

The bold and beautiful saree with beige pleats and maroon palla and blouse has been absolutely crafted with contemporary flair that resonates with today’s fashion aficionados.

Check out this piece of classy and sassy saree in similar hues, draped in seedha palla silhouette and adorned with lot of fabric tassels and prominent oxidised jewelry! It’s not just nostalgia, its heritage preserved and re-imagined to meet the demands of the present in boho styling.

Let’s now acknowledge another masterpiece in classic colour palette of beige and maroon, embodying the essence of culture and fashion. The contemporary lehnga choli silhouette harmonizes tradition and modernity. The figurative Kalamkari motif on the border of the dupatta is such a delight to look at.

Model- Mallika Kapoor

This intricate Indian art form has survived generations and is popular in all the generations. The designer has meticulously styled it in absolutely western silhouette for Gen Z to foster the spirit of wearing handloom in daily lifestyle. Kuddos to the gracious teen model for carrying the style with utmost delicacy and dignity.

Also, enjoy the ramp performance by our lovely artists endorsing block printing of Bagru.

In a world often overshadowed by mass production, HANDLOOM shines as a beacon of cultural pride, sustainability, and artistic brilliance.

As we honor the legacy of block printing, we salute the artisans who turn fabric into living art and the also the designer who satisfies the soul of the craftsmen by converting their art into masterpieces.
