Welcome to Hues of Heritage, a gala Cultural Fashion Extravaganza and Creative Conclave hosted by Tale of a Trend in association with National Crafts Museum and Hastkala Academy, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

The 2 day extravaganza was conceptualized by Mehak Gulati, a Fashion Blogger, Runway Show Director, and an educator with an aim to celebrate National Handloom Day 2023 in contemporary outlook.

Carrying forward the vision of our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi Ji of wearing and promoting Indian Handloom, the event succeeded in its endeavour to foster the spirit of Handloom, and Traditional Arts & Crafts of India amongst the youth of the nation. The cultural Fashion Extravaganza was assisted by enterprising event coordinator, Pranjal Shivhare.

The extraordinary event on day 1 was graced by  the presence of Mr. Sohan Kumar Jha, Senior Director, National Crafts Museum and Hastkala Academy, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

Day 2 also witnessed eminent personalities like Ms. Salma Sultan, TV anchor for Doordarshan for three decades and Designer for traditional Textiles

Ms. Shweta Rajpal, celebrity anchor, brand ambassador and the most popular Travel Influencer in India

Dr. Varun Katyal, renowned Wellness Expert, Pageant mentor and Pageant Jury

Day1- 6th August 2023- Cultural Fashion Extravaganza and Creative Contests

Lighting of the propitious lamp marked the inauguration of the event.

Amidst the cheers of an enthusiastic audience, the participants and models took centre stage. Each step they took resonated with the timeless beauty of Indian textiles. The runway came alive with the vibrant showcase of handloom heritage with  glamorous  outfits, meticulously crafted by designers through various themes, such as Banjaran by Megha Sharma,  Matti- Mahima Korde,  Airport Look-Book by artisan Badshah Miyan, Parallel Paradise by Akanksha Jain and so on.

The ardent audience also witnessed passionate participants competing each other in creative contests  solemnising the spirit of heritage handlooms. The kiddos showcased best of their innovative skills in Drape the Doll Contest where they aesthetically adorned their dolls in Indian handlooms.

The young upcoming designers also left no stone  unturned in unleashing their creativity in Style your Pocket Sash Contest.  The pretty pocket squares created by Gen Z with Indian  Handloom and surface ornamentation were worth admiration.

Day2- 7th August 2023- Conclave

Another morning of greatness and charismatic auras evolved with the onset of conclave titled- Creative conversation with trendsetters of Traditional Textiles and role of media and influencers in promoting it.

Eminent personalities like TV presentor and Designer Salma Sultan, academician expert Dr Mona Suri, youth influencers like Shweta Rajpal, Amit Bhatia and  pageant mentor Dr Varun Katyal united to promote traditional textiles by sharing their insights.  With their absolutely amazing aura and wisdom, the audience galvanized to preserve and promote our rich handloom heritage.

On this auspicious occasion of National Handloom Day, let’s take a pledge to wear and promote our handlooms in our daily lifestyle. Do remember, heritage defines the roots of the nation!
