A gala Fashion Extravaganza to celebrate 75 years of Independence with Traditional Textiles of India

Tale of a Trend witnessed another evening of flash and flamboyance at Hyatt Centric, Janakpuri by organizing a gala event with lot of pomp and show. The Fashion Extravaganza-‘Jashn-e-Bahar’ was conceptualised and organized by Ms. Mehak Gulati- Fashion Blogger and Runway Show Director and assisted by Ms. Simran Rehani.

The event was graced by the presence of venerated guests Dr. Mona Suri– Associate Professor at Royal University for Women (RUW), former Reader, Lady Irwin College, Delhi, India; Lt. Dr. Rita Gangwani-Personality transformation and international pageant Coach; Mr. Manuj Sharma-film producer and social activist; Lizaa Malik– singer and actor; Dr. Neeraj Gupta– Director, Srihans Arts and Creations Pvt. Ltd, Advocate Praveen Nayyar– Professional singer;  Amit Bhatia– Entertainment Head, ABP Live; Mr. Krishan Tewari and Mrs. Sapna Tewari– Editors, Owners and Publishers, Zoom Delhi, who encouraged our budding designers and models at the event.

The lighting of the propitious lamp marked the auspicious beginning of the event.

The Fashion Extravaganza took pride in flaunting the models as young as 1.5 years of age to as experienced as the 35 years old.  The gorgeous gals exhibited their creative talent via ramp walk and dance performances on the beats of peppy Bollywood tracks in scintillating outfits.

A thrilled audience cheered the student-participants and other models during the various rounds. Student models displayed glitzy and alluring attires through the themes like-

  1. Peacock Paradise– Inspired from national bird Peacock and meticulously curated by designer Akanksha Jain, the collection showcased varied handcrafted Traditional Textiles of India in Peacock color palette.
  2. Darlings and Drapes- inspired from block printed Chanderi sarees of Madhya Pradesh.
  3. 2 States– Designer, Sonika Sharma draws its creative vision from the fusion of North and South. The jumpsuit from south silk paired with Phulkari of Punjab left the audience mesmerised.
  4. Pink City- The theme displayed jazzy celebration of mirror work of Jaipur presented by tiny tots.
  5. Antidote- This is the dream collection on sustainable fashion of Late Ruhani. The budding designer left this world without showcasing her passion for Fashion. However, her mom and friend Sonika took the responsibility of fulfilling her last wish at the Fashion Extravaganza by Tale of a Trend.  Bags by Cotton Mellon added an extra grace to the sequence.
  6. Swadesi Look Book– This theme drew its innovative inspiration from the style quotient of first Prime Minister of Independent India, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and showcased the voguish trend of Nehru jackets in contemporary yet classy Swadesi Look for girls.

The show also witnessed a curtain raiser ceremony of  upcoming Fashion Week, by Tale of a Trend- VINTAGE IN VOGUE and celebration of 5 years of Tale of a Trend!

This Fashion Extravaganza was indeed a celebration of hues, fashion, culture, traditional textiles and style spreading smiles and gaiety all around; culminating in a hope that this celebration of finesse and finery will continue to enthrall in the years to come.
