A Date with Ritu Beri

Let’s see what does ace Fashion Designer, Ritu Beri says about fashion.

*Fashion to you is………    Fashion is the way someone walks….. a painting, nature ….it could be physical or spiritual. Aesthetics aside what inspires me is being conscious and I love seeing the brain break barriers. Fashion enables life beyond the here and now. Fashion is fun !

*Your success mantra is…….     I just always have to try it, if it is impossible it must be great .

*Three people whom you consider as you role models…     My parents & Bobby.

*What is the U.S.P of your designs?   My clothes emphasize on a women’s sensuality, elegance & simplicity. I like to bring tears to people’s eyes, arouse emotions in their heart through my work.

*The naughtiest inspiration you ever had…   The bikini

*According to you what are the ingredients of a perfect dress ?     Comfort and finish.

*1st fashion show which acted as a turning point in your career……..    My first show in Paris.

*While designing what kind of accessories you are addicted to ?     I love jewellery and well made shoes.

*Which is more fascinating: Indian wear or western wear ?      Both,  In Indian, I love the sari.  Sarees are something that would never go out of fashion & western wear would be something to do experiment with.

*Your biggest contribution to the Fashion Industry….   My style , my workmanship & my quality of work is all very exclusive in creating my own individual identity.

*Whose designs you will prefer to wear (of course other than  your own )?     Hermes & Jean Paul Gaultier.

*The perfect advice for upcoming fashion-o-crats….. The biggest challenge for a young designer is to reach its proposed clients and to get one’s collection known. The problem always is about distribution, promotion & the huge cost of building a brand.  It is risky but great fun!
